Sprekelia

Family: Amaryllidaceae.

Sprekelia formosissima
Sprekelia Genus of a single species of bulbous perennial from rocky slopes in Mexico and Guatemala. It has semi-erect, strap-shaped, basal leaves, and is grown for its large, showy, 6-petaled red flowers, sometimes marked or striped yellow, borne in spring.
Growing conditions Watering and misting Propagation
Plant in autumn with the neck and shoulders of the bulb above soil level. Grow in soil-based potting mix in full light. When in growth, water moderately, reduce water as foliage fades. Keep almost dry when dormant. Separate offsets when dormant in early autumn.
