Leaves linear, quite broad (1¼-1¾″), blunt-ended. Inflorescence shaft (up to 1⅓-1⅔′) bears 2-5 large funnel-like white, dark-red or purple flowers. - Hippeastrum Leaves broadly lanceolate, pointed at tip, up to 1′ long and 2⅓-3″ wide, softer than leaves of Amaryllis. Flowers white, large, in umbel at tip of tall herbaceous shaft. Flowers with very narrow, linear, bent outward petals. Petals connected at base by short white membrane, forming a crown. - Pancratium parviflorum.
